Join us for a thought provoking theatrical journey with Vibhinna Ramdev, as she presents ‘Why English?’. Inspired by personal experiences and interactions, this performance blends physical theatre and spoken word to explore the complexities of language and identity. As Ramdev navigates her challenges as an actor in a predominantly non-English speaking nation, she delves into the significance of language and its impact on opportunities and perceptions.

Vibhinna Ramdev

Vibhinna Ramdev, a versatile performing artist from Bangalore, boasts a rich 22-year journey spanning dance, theatre, and film. Initially a dancer, she transitioned into theatre and delved into dance/physical theatre.

She wrote and directed ‘The Cross Connection’, a 3-minute short film for the Rode Reel Festival, which made it to the top 5 finalists in the Indian Regional category (2017).

She co-directed and choreographed a dance theatre stage production bringing to life, the novel Einstein’s Dreams by Alan Lightman, which was part of the ‘History of Ideas’ programme with Bangalore Little Theatre. This is further being developed by her into an original adaptation to include video projection mapping in collaboration with a filmmaker.

Currently touring her solo physical-theatre show ‘Why English?’, it had its World Premiere at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2023, the world’s largest performing arts festival.
