What is MAP?

The Museum of Art & Photography (MAP) is south India’s first major private museum. Showcasing a vast collection of paintings, sculptures, popular prints, photographs and textiles, MAP’s mission is to take art and culture to the heart of the community, making it accessible to diverse audiences. The museum is now open to the public, from Tuesday to Sunday.

Where is MAP located?

MAP is located in the heart of Bengaluru on Kasturba Road. The Museum is located within an easy walking-distance of Cubbon Park, MG Road and Vidhana Soudha metro stations. Please click here for more details on how to visit us.

What are the opening timings at MAP?

The Museum is open from Tuesday-Sunday, from 10 am onwards.

Who is the Founder of MAP?

The Museum of Art & Photography (MAP) was founded in the year 2016 by Abhishek Poddar, one of India’s most prominent collectors.

How is the Museum governed?

MAP is a not-for-profit institution that currently receives no governmental funding and is a unit and major project of the Art & Photography Foundation. MAP is governed by its Board of Directors and advised by its International Advisory Committee.

Who is Abhishek Poddar?

Abhishek Poddar is the Founder of MAP. He is a businessman and a prominent collector and patron of the arts in India. He is involved in various family group companies with diverse interests ranging from trading and export, to tea, industrial explosives, travel and retail. Poddar also serves on the advisory committees of several cultural institutions including the Deccan Heritage Foundation and FIND (Foundation Inde-Europe de Nouveaux Dialogues or the India-Europe Foundation for New Dialogues) headquartered in Rome.

Who is the Director of MAP?

Harish Vasudevan is the Acting Director of MAP.

MAP’s images can be used under the following terms and conditions:

1. That the reproductions are accompanied by the name of the artist, the title and date of work, the owner credit line, the copyright holder and photo credit

2. That the reproductions are not cropped, overprinted, tinted or subject to any form of derogatory treatment without the prior approval of the copyright owner

3. That any reproductions that accompany an article are not used for marketing or advertising purposes

What are the different education programmes at MAP?

MAP regularly curates a variety of programmes that cater to a wide range of audiences, from kids and teens to adults. You can browse our range of interactive programmes and downloadable resources for kids and families by visiting our Learn page.

Does MAP organise any events for school groups?

Yes, MAP curates a range of online and physical programmes designed specifically for school groups. For information on our workshops and events, please check our Learn section.

Does MAP offer outreach programmes at schools?

Yes, MAP does offer outreach programmes at schools wherein the team curates and conducts physical workshops at the campus. Currently, these programmes are on hold due to the pandemic. Does MAP have any online courses?

Does MAP offer programmes for educators?

What events are on currently at MAP?

How do I attend a MAP event?

You will need to register to attend a MAP event. Please visit the Events page to view the calendar and register for any event of your choice. After completing the registration, you will receive a confirmation email with the details of the event. 

How do I cancel my registration for an event?

Currently, there is no cancellation process for a MAP event.

Do I need to pay to attend a MAP event?

MAP organises a mixture of free and paid events which are available for all viewers. For a paid event, once you register you will be redirected to Razorpay to make the payment. If you sign up as a member, you can get free access to most paid events.

Can I register as a guest for an event?

Yes, you can register as a guest while signing up for an event.

I missed an online event. Can I watch it anywhere?

All of MAP’s Online events are available on the website for viewing later. Please visit the Watch page to access our comprehensive video library of past events, film premieres and more. You will need to sign up as a MAP member to access the videos in this section.

How can I view MAP’s exhibitions?

MAP’s Online exhibitions can be accessed anytime and anywhere by clicking here! You can also view information on our ongoing exhibitions at the museum and find information on booking tickets to visit the museum.

What is a MAP Membership?

MAP memberships give viewers access to the full museum experience at home. Members can sign up for exclusive events, explore all online exhibitions and workshops, browse through our video library and the vast collection, and more.

What are the benefits of the MAP membership?

MAP’s membership gives viewers access to the full museum experience at home. The various benefits of signing up for a MAP membership include:

How can I sign up as a member on MAP?

You can register as a member on the MAP website or by clicking here.

Is there a free trial period for the MAP membership?

We currently do not offer a free trial for the membership. However, many sections of our website are available for free for a limited period of time to give you a preview of our membership access.

How do I pay for the MAP membership?

Once you create an account on MAP’s website, you will be redirected to the payment gateway, Razorpay, on which you can make the payment via credit card, debit card, UPI, Netbanking, and Wallets such as PhonePe, Mobikwik and Airtel Money. Razorpay also allows you to pay using EMI.

We also accept payments via cheque. Please write to us at memberships@map-india.org for further details.

Are international cards accepted on MAP?

Yes, if you would like to make a payment using an international card please write to us at memberships@map-india.org and we will send you an international payment link.

Can I gift a MAP membership?

Yes, you can gift a single as well as multiple memberships to your friends and family. For a single membership, please click here.

For multiple memberships, please write to us at memberships@map-india.org and someone from the team will be in touch with you.

Does MAP offer corporate membership packages?

Yes, for corporate memberships, please write to us at memberships@map-india.org.

When is my MAP membership valid till?

Your MAP membership is valid for a period of one year from the date of registering as a member.

How do I renew my MAP membership?

Once you login to your account, you will be redirected to your Account page. Here, please select the ‘Profile’ option which lists your membership level details and gives the option to renew or upgrade your membership.

What is the MAP annual membership refund policy?

Currently, our subscriptions are non-refundable. If you cancel your subscription, all of the paid features related to your account will expire at the end of your billing cycle.

How do I upgrade my membership from a free account to a paid account?

Once you login to your account, you will be redirected to your Account page. Here, please select the ‘Profile’ option which lists your membership level details and gives the option to renew or upgrade your membership.

I have forgotten my password. How do I login to my account?

In case you have forgotten your password, please visit the login page on the website. At the bottom of the Login page, please select the ‘Lost Password’ option. Once you enter your username or email address in the field specified, you will receive a link via email to create a new password for your account.

In case you have forgotten both, your username as well as your password, please contact us at memberships@map-india.org and we will get back to you.
