Dr Manan Bhan and Priya Chauhan
How do experts from different fields read landscapes differently? What can an ecologist reveal about an artwork that we might otherwise miss?
If these questions intrigue you, join us for a walkthrough of Beneath the Turning Sky followed by an exclusive collection viewing of artworks from MAP’s collection that respond to ecology and are in line with the curatorial vision of the exhibition.
The walkthrough takes the form of a conversation between one of the exhibition’s curators, Priya Chauhan, and ecologist Dr Manan Bhan. While Dr Bhan connects the artworks to his research in ecology, Priya will draw our attention to the artistic details and curatorial choices that allow us to arrive at these ecological readings. Together, they invite us to see how different disciplines can offer distinct yet complementary ways of looking at the same landscape.
The programme concludes with a guided viewing of works from MAP’s collection, led by an in-house expert from the Collections team. Bringing together artworks by artists such as Jyoti Bhatt and Mantu Das, this exclusive viewing offers a chance to discover how ecological questions continue to unfold across the museum’s wider collection.
