SUMMARY:Many Ways of Seeing
DESCRIPTION:How do experts from different fields read landscapes differentl
y? What can an ecologist reveal about an artwork that we might otherwise m
iss?\n\nIf these questions intrigue you\, join us for a walkthrough of Ben
eath the Turning Sky followed by an exclusive collection viewing of artwor
ks from MAP’s collection that respond to ecology and are in line with th
e curatorial vision of the exhibition.\n\nThe walkthrough takes the form o
f a conversation between one of the exhibition’s curators\, Priya Chauha
n\, and ecologist Dr Manan Bhan. While Dr Bhan connects the artworks to hi
s research in ecology\, Priya will draw our attention to the artistic deta
ils and curatorial choices that allow us to arrive at these ecological rea
dings. Together\, they invite us to see how different disciplines can offe
r distinct yet complementary ways of looking at the same landscape.\n\nThe
programme concludes with a guided viewing of works from MAP’s collectio
n\, led by an in-house expert from the Collections team. Bringing together
artworks by artists such as Jyoti Bhatt and Mantu Das\, this exclusive vi
ewing offers a chance to discover how ecological questions continue to unf
old across the museum’s wider collection.
