Through this workshop, we will connect the audience to the impacts of climate change on ecosystems and how these impacts affect the series of socio-economic linkages around us. The session will focus on three key lenses: biodiversity, food and water systems, and social fabric, connecting these through storytelling and data visualisation.

Through art explorations, we will examine themes such as climate grief, climate injustice, and the interconnection between them and ecosystems.

Dr Chandrima Home

Dr Chandrima Home is an Assistant Professor at the Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Manipal Academy of Higher Education. Her primary interests lie in understanding species ecology in the context of human-induced global changes, with a special emphasis on carnivores and urban spaces. Using field-based insights, she builds interdisciplinary research into her teaching curriculum, fostering ecological thinking among art and design students while linking science, culture, and community engagement within city contexts.

Dr Sambita Modak

Dr Sambita Modak, a behavioural ecologist, visual artist, and data-enthusiast, works at the intersection of science, art, game design, and conservation. She is working as research coordinator as part of Canopy Collective’s project on games for community-led site-specific nature education, and mentor at Creature Conserve. Her creative practice seeks to capture diverse experiences, inviting audiences to step into another’s shoes—of a person, community, or species—through nonverbal media that trigger reflection and conversation, connecting multiple communities. Her creative delight lies in documenting the world around and within through live, memory, and concept art. Sambita’s background spans academic research in bioacoustics and AI safety, interdisciplinary teaching and mentoring.
