Untitled, Durgaprasad Bandi,2022, Cyanotype, MAC.02155

This workshop introduces participants to cyanotype process through direct engagement with materials, light, and composition. Rooted in the legacy of early photographic image-making, the session moves from technical understanding to exploratory making.

Beginning with an introduction to the history and context of cyanotype, participants then prepare coated surfaces, compose images using botanical specimens, and expose prints using sunlight and UV sources.

On experimentation with form, layering, and variations in exposure and washing, participants understand how the process responds to material and environmental conditions.

This programme is in conjunction with MAP’s ongoing exhibition, Paper Gardens: Art, Botany and Empire.

Podd Labs

Podd Labs is a learning space focused on slow, hands-on image-making through historical and alternative photographic processes. Over the past year, they have conducted workshops across multiple cities and institutions, including sessions at the Indian Photo Festival, working closely with artists, students, and photography practitioners.

Their workshops are process-led and material-focused, introducing participants to early photographic techniques through guided, hands-on sessions. These formats emphasise slowness, experimentation, and close engagement with photographic materials.
