What can art tell us about the ways in which we exist as a contemporary society? How does it serve to help us learn more about the socio-political contexts we are placed in?

In this workshop, led by Andrea Winkler-Vilhena, we explore the intersections between art and media literacies. Vilhena proposes that art increasingly shares the journalistic agenda of “examining unseen corners of society” and that “due to the shared use of digital media, both fields have gained common ground.”

Following a short presentation by the facilitator, the participants will work individually to reflect on various aspects of media literacies and how these relate to our daily lives. Each participant will choose an artwork from the MAP collection that makes an “unseen corner of society” visible to others. This collaborative exercise will result in a co-curated virtual gallery.
