Pallavi and Bindhumalini explore the theme of gender as they journey from birth to liberation, from form to the formless, through the words and eyes of women across the world.

The Threshold is a musical conversation between Pallavi and Bindhumalini that celebrates the stories of women across continents and generations. Through the stories of Hypatia, Agnodice, Kharbaoucha, and Fanny Mendelssohn, and the songs of Lalla, Lingamma, Neelamma, Goggavva, Sule Sunkkavva, Nina Simone, and Meera, Pallavi and Bindhu weave a journey of womanhood, accentuating their voices with the sounds of the harmonium, flute, kazoo, swarmandal, udukkai, bells, ghungroo, shakers, kartal, melodica, rainmaker, and banjo.

This event is part of the programming to celebrate the last month of our first permanent exhibition, VISIBLE/INVISIBLE.
