Growing with and through Films

Ananya Kasaravalli would take us through her journey as a theatre artist, actor and director. One can notice how her works move fluidly between mediums. Kasaravalli would reflect on the shift in her practice from acting to filmmaking and on how her upbringing in a family deeply rooted in Kannada theatre and cinema has shaped her lens. Her performances in films like Kaada Beladingalu (Jungle Moonlight) and Naayi Neralu (Shadow of the Dog) to her directorial debut Harikatha Prasanga (Chronicles of Hari) explore gender and identity, which would also allow us to look at how cinema shapes society and vice versa.

The event is presented as part of a monthly series that brings in artists and artistic practices rooted in Bengaluru, developed in collaboration with Ananya Drishya.
