Looking for an engaging and creative way to spend your Sunday? Join us at MAP for an insightful walkthrough of Chay Reds and Ferrous Blacks, one of our recent exhibitions, with Pavithra Muddaya, co-founder of Vimor.

The walkthrough will be divided into two parts:

Exploring Motifs and Symbolism:

Pavithra Muddaya will delve into the rich meanings, interpretations, and symbolism behind the motifs featured in the exhibition. Drawing connections with motifs from the Vimor Museum of Living Textile, she will explore how these designs resonate across different contexts, prompting participants to reflect on their personal connections with the patterns.

Create Your Own Motif:

In the second part, participants will get hands-on with a short creative activity. Drawing inspiration from the exhibition, you’ll have the chance to design your own motifs and craft short narratives that bring your creations to life.

Join us for this inspiring event that bridges art, history, and hands-on creativity!

Pavithra Muddaya

Pavithra Muddaya co-founded Vimor in 1974 alongside her late mother, Mrs. Chimmy Nanjappa, with a mission to empower weavers and conserve India’s rich textile heritage. Through design mentorship and skill upskilling, Pavithra has guided small-time weavers to become successful entrepreneurs who cater to urban aesthetics while preserving traditional techniques.

In 2019, she established the Vimor Museum of Living Textile under the Vimor Handloom Foundation, continuing her lifelong commitment to celebrating India’s textile culture. Inspired by visionaries like Kamala Devi Chattopadhyay and Pupul Jayakar, Pavithra’s work has transformed the lives of many weavers, helping them grow from modest beginnings to thriving enterprises.
