Join us for the launch of Raja Ravi Varma: An Everlasting Imprint – A Divine Omnipresence, the third in the six-volume book series exploring the social, religious, and aesthetic impact of the Ravi Varma Press.
This latest volume examines images from the press associated with worship. Beginning with an introduction to the concept of devotional images, the volume examines Devis such as Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Parvati, and continues with a focus on Devathas like Ganapati, Vishnu, Shiva, and Subramanya. It further explores other significant divine figures, including the Navagraha. The volume includes a study of representations of sages and pontiffs, and extends its scope to Islamic and Christian sacred imagery.

Ganesh Shivaswamy
Ganesh Shivaswamy, a fifth-generation lawyer from Bengaluru, developed a strong interest in Raja Ravi Varma’s art and began collecting chromolithographs from a young age. He is famous for his six-volume series called ‘Raja Ravi Varma: An Everlasting Imprint,’ which explores Varma’s journey in art, and his legacy.
