Daniel Sukumar & Parmeet
Join us for an afternoon of poetry, discussion and learning with anti-caste Dalit poet Daniel Sukumar who will share his work, and delve into the tools he uses to make art. Daniel’s poetry focuses on the living truths and harsh realities of caste in today’s world. They offer social commentary on what it means to simply exist in modern India. If you are looking to explore the art of self, understand caste and social narratives, and its relationship with mental health this is for you.
The programme is developed in collaboration with Deaf Bookwave, a book-club created by Deaf people, for Deaf people. It is a space where the Deaf community can come together to read, discuss, and express emotions, thoughts, and experiences through books and sign language. Deaf Bookwave believes that Deaf people deserve access to stories, literature, and emotional expression in their own language and culture. The book club encourages Deaf readers to explore different genres, share personal reflections, and connect with others in a fully Deaf-friendly environment. Deaf Bookwave hosts regular book discussions, emotional sharing circles, creative sessions, and more. Every Deaf voice matters, and every story brings us closer together. At Deaf Bookwave, we celebrate Deaf identity, Deaf expression, and the power of storytelling.
