In this talk, based on his recent book, A Sacred Journey, Professor BN Goswamy decodes a series of hitherto un-identified Pahari paintings from the Kedara Kalpa manuscript, a relatively unknown Shaivite text from Rajasthan. The paintings depict the journey of five pilgrims through uncharted territory to have a darshan of Shiva in Kailash.
From snow capped frontiers to golden stretches of land, the uncommon resolve in the minds of pilgrims to the feeling of triumph at the end of the expedition, traverse a range of geographical, emotional, and spiritual terrains in this illustrative lecture.
