Sounds of the City

As part of Sounds of the City, a sonic public engagement project, we invited musicians, composers and sound designers from four metros in the country – Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi to ‘capture’ the sounds that best define their city and create music with it. The four selected music producers were mentored by Berklee College of Music faculty member, Yoel Genin (aka Shwesmo), on production and sound design techniques to help tweak and change recorded samples for use in a musical setting.
This session features the exclusive premiere of their songs created as an ode to their cities as part of the project and workshop.
The four selected music producers, Abhishek Sekhri, Nikhil Narendra, Rahul Nadkarni, and Sourav Biswas also appear in a conversation with Shwesmo in which they delve into their creative process of weaving these sound collages, and share more about their inspirations and technique.
