Give me a pen and paper and I'll tell you how I feel

When

May 25, 2024
12:00 pm - 5:30 pm

How much does your body hold?
How much does it endure every day?
Have you ever paused to wonder?

We invite you to come pause with visual and performance artist Smitha Cariappa’s “Give me a pen and paper and I’ll tell you how I feel”. Contemplate the capacity and frailty of the human body. Smitha will be seated for 5.5 hours, continuously writing found poetry, responding to the postcards that are on display at our exhibition, Hello & Goodbye: Postcards from the Early 20th Century. As the scroll of paper falls on the floor, you are welcome to pick up any part and read.

This is a chance to recall the older days of snail mail, waiting for the postman to deliver a letter, and remember the feeling of writing on your notebook instead of typing away on a screen. You can immerse yourself in the visual exhibition alongside Smitha’s performance art.

Drop in and take a few minutes to wonder about the capacity and frailty of our bodies.
