Lakshmi

Religious iconography in India is used in everyday life, finding representation in objects as diverse as advertisements, packaging, postcards, matchboxes and prints. The Ravi Varma Fine Art Lithographic Press, founded in 1894 in Bombay (present-day Mumbai), played a major role in making the iconography of deities accessible to the common public through mass production of art prints.

Each of these artworks depicts Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess who represents wealth, fortune, fertility, beauty, power and prosperity. The consort of the Hindu deity, Shiva, she is primarily shown wearing a red or pink sari, and standing on a lotus.

ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಪ್ರತಿಮಾಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ದೈನಂದಿನ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಳಕೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಜಾಹೀರಾತುಗಳು, ಪ್ಯಾಕೇಜಿಂಗ್, ಪೋಸ್ಟ್‌ಕಾರ್ಡ್‌ಗಳು, ಮ್ಯಾಚ್‌ಬಾಕ್ಸ್‌ಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಮುದ್ರಣಗಳಂತಹ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯಮಯ ವಸ್ತುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದು ಪ್ರಾತಿನಿಧ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ. 1894 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಂಬೆಯಲ್ಲಿ (ಇಂದಿನ ಮುಂಬೈ) ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲಾದ ರವಿವರ್ಮ ಫೈನ್ ಆರ್ಟ್ ಲಿಥೋಗ್ರಾಫಿಕ್ ಪ್ರೆಸ್, ಆರ್ಟ್ ಪ್ರಿಂಟ್‌ಗಳ ಸಾಮೂಹಿಕ ಉತ್ಪಾದನೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಜನರಿಗೆ ದೇವತೆಗಳ ಪ್ರತಿಮಾಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದ ರಚನೆ ಕೈಗೆ ಎಟುಕುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುವಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರ ವಹಿಸಿತು.

ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಕಲಾಕೃತಿ ಸಂಪತ್ತು, ಅದೃಷ್ಟ, ಫಲವತ್ತತೆ, ಸೌಂದರ್ಯ, ಶಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮೃದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಸುವ ಹಿಂದೂ ದೇವತೆಯಾದ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿಯನ್ನು ಚಿತ್ರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಿಂದೂ ದೇವತೆಯಾದ ಶಿವನ ಪತ್ನಿಯನ್ನು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಕೆಂಪು ಅಥವಾ ಗುಲಾಬಿ ಬಣ್ಣದ ಸೀರೆಯನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿ ಕಮಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿಂತಿರುವಂತೆ ತೋರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು.
