Drawings from the Silversmith Sketchbook

These nineteenth-century sketches are from a sketchbook by the artist named Baburao, drawn between 1800–1904. As preparatory drawings, they would have also been part of a catalogue for creating the final product. The sketches capture designs and different iterations of the objects a silversmith was commissioned with, including royal regalia such as staffs, thrones and palanquins.

ಬಾಬುರಾವ್ ಎಂಬ ಕಲಾವಿದನ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸ ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡುಬಂದ ಈ ರೇಖಾಚಿತ್ರಗಳು ಹತ್ತೊಂಬತ್ತನೇ ಶತಮಾನ ಅಂದರೆ 1800-1904 ರ ನಡುವೆ ಚಿತ್ರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. . ಈ ಪೂರ್ವಸಿದ್ಧತಾ ರೇಖಾಚಿತ್ರಗಳು ಅಂತಿಮ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನವನ್ನು ರಚಿಸಲು ಮಾಡಲಾದ ಕ್ಯಾಟಲಾಗ್‌ನ ಭಾಗವೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದಿರಬಹುದು. ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ರೇಖಾಚಿತ್ರಗಳು ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವ ಅಕ್ಕಸಾಲಿಗನಿಗೆ ನಿಯೋಜಿಸಲಾದ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ ಬೇಕಾಗುವ ರಾಜ ಮನೆತನದ ಲಾಂಛನಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದಂತಹ ಕೋಲು,ಸಿಂಹಾಸನ, ಹಾಗೂ ಪಲ್ಲಕ್ಕಿಯಂತಹ ಮರುಕಳಿಸುವ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸಗಳನ್ನು ಸೆರೆಹಿಡಿಯುತ್ತವೆ.
