Manchester Textiles

Manchester textiles refer to cotton textiles that were roller printed, based on technology that emerged in Manchester, United Kingdom in the eighteenth century. A host of modern technologies that simplified textile weaving and printing in other cities such as Lancashire, enabled Britain to export large quantities of cotton textiles to India. Manchester prints often imitated the designs and patterns of traditional hand painted and printed Indian cotton textiles. By the mid-nineteenth century, Bombay (present day Mumbai) and Ahmedabad were also major production centres for Manchester prints.

ಮ್ಯಾಂಚೆಸ್ಟರ್ ಜವಳಿಗಳು ಹದಿನೆಂಟನೇ ಶತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಯುನೈಟೆಡ್ ಕಿಂಗ್‌ಡಂನ ಮ್ಯಾಂಚೆಸ್ಟರ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಆವಿಷ್ಕಾರವಾದ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದ ಆಧಾರದ ಮೇಲೆ ರೋಲರ್ ಮುದ್ರಿತ ಹತ್ತಿ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸುತ್ತವೆ.. ಲಂಕಷೈರ್‌ನಂತಹ ನಗರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಜವಳಿ ನೇಯ್ಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮುದ್ರಣಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಇನ್ನೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ವಿಧಾನಗಳನ್ನು ಸರಳಗೊಳಿಸಿದ ಆಧುನಿಕ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನಗಳ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಭಾರತಕ್ಕೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದ ಹತ್ತಿ ಜವಳಿಗಳನ್ನು ರಫ್ತು ಮಾಡಲು ಬ್ರಿಟನ್ ಗೆ ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಯಿತು. ಮ್ಯಾಂಚೆಸ್ಟರ್ ಮುದ್ರಣಗಳು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಚಿತ್ರಿಸಿದ ಮತ್ತು ಮುದ್ರಿತ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಹತ್ತಿ ಜವಳಿಗಳ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಮಾದರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸುತ್ತವೆ. ಹತ್ತೊಂಬತ್ತನೇ ಶತಮಾನದ ಮಧ್ಯಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ, ಬಾಂಬೆ (ಇಂದಿನ ಮುಂಬೈ) ಮತ್ತು ಅಹಮದಾಬಾದ್ ಕೂಡ ಮ್ಯಾಂಚೆಸ್ಟರ್ ಮುದ್ರಣಗಳ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಉತ್ಪಾದನಾ ಕೇಂದ್ರಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದವು.
