Goldwork in Textiles

The three fragments of textiles have been decorated with goldwork or zari. This form of embroidery is done with thin silver and gold wires. Zari is commonly used on garments such as saris and palace furnishings. It is a marker of royalty and the elite and their opulence. Zari is commonly used on textiles required for special occasions and ceremonies. Zari has largely been replaced with painted or polished silk threads and copper wires, today.

ಈ ಜವಳಿಗಳ ಮೂರು ತುಣುಕುಗಳನ್ನು ಚಿನ್ನದ ಕೆಲಸ ಅಥವಾ ಝರಿಯಿಂದ ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ರೀತಿಯ ಕಸೂತಿಯನ್ನು ತೆಳುವಾದ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ ಮತ್ತು ಚಿನ್ನದ ತಂತಿಗಳಿಂದ ಮಾಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಝರಿಯನ್ನು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಸೀರೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಅರಮನೆಯ ಪೀಠೋಪಕರಣಗಳಂತಹ ಉಡುಪುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಳಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದು ರಾಜಮನೆತನ ಮತ್ತು ಗಣ್ಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತಿಕೆಯ ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿದೆ. ಝರಿಯನ್ನು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ವಿಶೇಷ ಸಂದರ್ಭಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಾರಂಭಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿರುವ ಜವಳಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಳಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಇಂದು ಝರಿಯನ್ನು ಬಣ್ಣ ಅಥವಾ ಪಾಲಿಶ್ ಮಾಡಿದ ರೇಷ್ಮೆ ಎಳೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ತಾಮ್ರದ ತಂತಿಗಳಿಂದ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ತಯಾರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
