Pahari Rumals

Pahari rumal (handkerchiefs), also known as Chamba rumal, originated from the princely state of Chamba, in present day Himachal Pradesh. They are decorated with a technique of embroidery called dohara tanka (double satin stitch) which results in identical designs on both faces of the handkerchief. The illustrations and designs are inspired and derived from Pahari miniature paintings.
