Nathdwara Paintings

As patronage in Nathdwara increased, the region’s miniature painting tradition flourished. Unlike the cloth-based pichwais, these miniatures were created on paper, drawing from the Braj and Mewar schools. They prominently featured deep shades of blue, bright yellows, reds and oranges, with ornamentation styles drawn from Mughal miniature paintings. The Goswamis of the temple, who played a central role in daily aartis and festival celebrations at the haveli, were prominently featured.
