What do teens want? A question most parents would love the answer to.
Is it wearing what they want? Spending all their time with friends? Deciding what’s for dinner? Well, as a museum, we’re no experts on adolescents, but what we can offer is something better: complete creative control.
We’re excited to announce MAP Teen Takeover 2026, a programme that hands the reins to young people aged 15–17 to reimagine what a museum can be.
So, what do teens get to do?
This year, participants are invited to respond to our permanent exhibition, Beneath the Turning Sky — an exploration of the creation of the world and our place in it. As part of a small, dedicated cohort, they will curate programmes for the exhibition that speak directly to their peers. The scope is wide: from art, culture, and museums to the bigger questions the exhibition raises about the environment and human existence.
Selected participants will work with us to:
-Curate programmes specifically for teenage audiences
– Lead the programme showcase at MAP
-Activate visitor spaces in ways that feel relevant and exciting
-Reflect on and respond to the exhibition through their own lived experiences
-Develop real-world skills in events curation, programming, and public engagement
