Shilpa Vijayakrishnan

Shilpa Vijayakrishnan is the Director of Education & Outreach at MAP, where she leads the museum’s audience development and engagement strategies across formal learning initiatives, public programming and visitor experience. She has been responsible for spearheading both local and international collaborations to deliver special programmes with an emphasis on bridging art and storytelling with other focuses such as technology and inclusion.

With a postgraduate degree in Arts & Aesthetics from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, she was formerly editor of the Tasveer Journal, with her articles published in publications including the eponymous print edition of the Tasveer Journal and Maharanis: Royal Women of India.

In her tenure at MAP, she has led this department since its conception, curated over five exhibitions specially designed for younger audiences, as well as conceptualised, driven and facilitated a wide range of programmes for schools and general museum audiences. She oversees the museum’s work with young adults and educators, as well as other community driven projects aimed at enabling greater access to the arts, and providing deeper understandings of the museum, its collections and exhibitions.
