Sonika Soni, Vir Amar Dasmahpatra
In this immersive experience, Sonika Soni (research fellow at the Museum Rietberg in Zurich) joins creative forces with vocalist Vir Amar Dasmahpatra to bring to life Ragamala paintings, widely known as an art form that sits at the intersection of music, literature, poetry and visual arts.
The duo collaborated to artistically and musically render selected ragamala paintings from the MAP and Rietberg collections in the session. While Soni’s analysis speak to the history and evolution of the artworks, Dasmahpatra’s vocal renditions provide an aural exploration of the same.
