MAP’s programme, Self Led Initiatives, is aimed at diverse and driven individuals, groups, collectives and not-for-profit organisations to test out formats and methods. The purpose of the programme is to create situations and events that facilitate and broaden forms of coming and being together; the joys, the disagreements, the uncomfortable silences and more, by opening the space of the museum.
We are looking for proposals and ideas for new or existing projects that are looking for support in terms of the physical infrastructure of the museum’s building. The spaces available in the museum for such programmes are namely the Mazumdar-Shaw Auditorium and the HDFC Learning Centre.
Self Led Initiatives is part of the larger programme of MAP’s inaugural exhibition, VISIBLE/INVISIBLE: Representation of Women in Art through the MAP Collection. Drawing from the various thematic threads of the collection, the exhibition highlights questions and frameworks in order to broaden the arguments within feminist discourse. Ultimately, through various self-led projects, forms of coming together and self-organising, the intention is to find more fruitful ways in expanding the field and furthering artistic, and activistic practices. The programme is open to all, irrespective of gender, age and social-cultural location.
Application Process
Applications can be submitted throughout the year and will be reviewed at the end of every quarter. Selected proposals will be allocated and given access to the physical infrastructure based on availability, and in consultation with the teams at the museum. The programme only covers nominal logistic costs for expenses related to stationery, printing and other allied costs to the proposal/idea.
