Walkthrough of Book of Gold: The Kanchana Chitra Ramayana of Banaras

Join us in celebrating MAP’s one year anniversary with this interactive walkthrough as Kuzhali Jaganathan from MAP’s Exhibitions team and Sneha Bennurakar from MAP’s Communications team take us through the Book of Gold manuscript; delving into Tulidas’ Ramcharitmanas; the various styles of miniature painting traditions in the early 19th century; and the historical context within which the manuscript was commissioned.

Curated by the late Kavita Singh and Parul Singh, the exhibition, Book of Gold: The Kanchana Chitra Ramayana of Banaras, displays nearly 80 folios from the Kanchana Chitra Ramayana, or the Golden Illustrated Ramayana.
