Walkthrough of Book of Gold: The Kanchana Chitra Ramayana of Banaras

Curated by the late Kavita Singh and Parul Singh, the exhibition, Book of Gold: The Kanchana Chitra Ramayana of Banaras, displays nearly 80 folios from the Kanchana Chitra Ramayana, or the Golden Illustrated Ramayana.

In this interactive walkthrough, Vineet Kajrolkar from MAP’s Exhibitions team will take us through this manuscript; delving into Tulidas’ Ramcharitmanas; the various styles of miniature painting traditions in the early 19th century; and the historical context within which the manuscript was commissioned.
