The Alchemist—Children’s Workshop:
An interactive workshop on Jamini Roy’s art and the many influences that shaped it.
Jamini Roy is one of the most iconic figures of modern Indian art. A National Treasure artist, his reputation is not only limited to the art world but has spilled over into the popular domain. Today his name is synonymous with the reinvention of the Bengali folk style.
This workshop will introduce participants to the art of Roy through the Museum’s collection. It will focus on the phases in his artistic career which were characterised by distinct influences that shaped his work. The session will culminate with a do-along making activity where participants will create a Jamini Roy inspired artwork for themselves.
This workshop is open for 7–13 year olds.
We encourage participants with any kind of difficulty related to hearing, speaking, learning, etc. to participate in the workshop. If you are a participant of this nature, please write to firstname.lastname@example.org prior to registration and let us know the nature of the difficulty and the accommodations that may be required.
