Stepping Inside A Bhil Painting

The Bhils are the second largest tribal community in India, residing in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan. Traditionally made on walls of their homes, Bhil art is characterised by bright colours and forms that are covered with dots in several patterns that stand out strikingly against the background.

Join the MAP team in exploring Bhil art through storytelling, and storytelling through Bhil art. Look closely at art, read stories, play thinking games and get creative!

This event forms part of Summer at MAP – an annual workshop series for kids facilitated by the MAP Education team along with external facilitators. In our first edition, we focus on the vernacular artistic traditions of India and meet the artists committed to keeping them alive!

These sessions have limited seats and registration is on a first come, first serve basis. The registration fee per session is Rs. 200 and you can sign up for more than one session.

We encourage participants with any kind of difficulty related to hearing, speaking, learning, etc. to participate in the workshops. If you are the guardian of such a participant, please write to us at education@map-india.org prior to registration and let us know the workshop(s) that is of interest, the nature of the difficulty and the accommodations that may be required. We will try our best to make the necessary arrangements in consultation with you.
