The dominant modes of knowledge production about the environment – be they academic, artistic or legal – have been complicit in the creation of a nature/culture dichotomy that ignores the multifarious ways in which we relate to the natural world.

Join us for a panel discussion at MAP as we explore how the production and consumption of media facilitate a more complex understanding of the relations between the human and non-human worlds, as well as amongst different communities across the globe.

The panel, consisting of Varun Kurtkoti, Filmmaker; Anitha N Reddy, Art Practitioner; and Pradeep Hedge, Conservation Filmmaker and Wildlife cameraman; will be moderated by Vidya S, Assistant Professor. It seeks to look at the role that films, photographs, newspapers and digital media play in recording where the world is now, and envisioning the futures it may work towards.

This discussion has been organised as part of Vachana 2024:EcoSpective – Ecological Discourses in South Asia, and is a collaboration between MAP and the Department of English and Cultural Studies at CHRIST (Deemed to be) University, Bannerghatta Campus.
