Krause (2013) says “a picture is worth a thousand words, but a soundscape is worth a thousand pictures”. This showcases the power of sound in both conveying information and evoking emotion.

In this workshop, we will explore the world of sounds to understand nature-human dynamics in various spatial and temporal aspects.Hearing is different from listening, and we engage in active listening of sound, visualizing them using some free softwares are also part of this workshop. The landscape is changing and so is the time and climate. How our active listening and recording the sound help in understanding these changes and also start creating repositories for endangered sounds. Eg- the sound from Kabadiwala on a Sunday morning or door-to-door playing of Nadaswara in the mornings of Karthika masa could be examples of spatial and temporally embedded sound.

Participants can bring their own laptop with following softwares
