Mahaveer Swami was born in Bikaner, Rajasthan. He received initial training at home and later did a Diploma in Painting and Clay Modeling from the Rajasthan School of Arts in Jaipur. He also honed his skills in the Traditional Style of Paintings under the guidance of his mentor, Shri Vedpal Sharma ‘Babu’.
His work is strongly influenced by his studies of Mughal and Rajasthani Miniatures. His subject matters are often drawn from Indian Mythology, the lifestyle of holy men and women, daily life of Indian women and other indigenous themes. His work stands out amongst thousands of traditional painters not only because of his drawing and painting skills but also because he has the ability to recognise the difference between the truly fine and the mundane.
Swami’s paintings are in the collections of museums, galleries, and with private collectors in India and internationally.
