Anand Tharaney

In his two decades-long career, Anand Tharaney has dabbled in filmmaking and related arts with a certain affinity for non-fiction. He has been an executive producer on several commissioned documentaries and long form productions, notably, Ashim Ahluwalia’s award-winning film, John and Jane (2005). He works primarily as an in-house producer for Studio Gola on various techno-social films made primarily for Google Inc, a vocation he continues till today.

Anand found his niche as a researcher while working on Rajesh Devraj’s seminal book on hand painted film poster art titled, ‘Art of Bollywood’. His interest in recorded history has grown ever since, extending to a large body of work as an archival consultant & producer, exemplified in Vikramaditya Motwane’s critical take on the ‘Emergency’, where the entire film is made up of archival news footage.

An active art hobbyist, Anand has keen interest in doodling, working with pen and ink, sketch pens and mix media with an interest in caricature drawing and abstraction.
