Join us for an intimate and inspiring conversation between Padma Shri recipient Bhuri Bai and Vineet Kajrolkar, Exhibitions Manager, as they delve into Bhuri Bai’s extraordinary journey as the first Bhil artist to transition from traditional murals to painting on paper and canvas.
In this special discussion, Bhuri Bai will share her personal story, reflecting on the challenges and triumphs she experienced while breaking new ground for Bhil art. Known for her vibrant and intricate depictions of nature, folklore, and daily life, Bhuri Bai’s transition to canvas was a transformative moment for both her and the Bhil community’s artistic heritage.
Her work, rich in symbolism and rooted in centuries-old traditions, has gained global recognition, and in this conversation, she will recount how she adapted her techniques and overcame the limitations of her environment to bring Bhil painting to a wider audience.
