Maniyarasan Rajendran

Architect, Photographer & Photogrammetry Specialist

Maniyarasan Rajendran, an architect, photographer, and photogrammetry specialist, combines expertise in design, conservation, and visual storytelling to advance imaging as a compelling tool for documenting the built environment. An alumnus of SPA New Delhi and NID Ahmedabad, his work spans architectural photography, aerial mapping, and photogrammetry, with collaborations across leading institutions like INTACH, NID, and CEPT.
He has conducted numerous capacity-building workshops on photography and photogrammetry across India, empowering professionals to integrate modern documentation techniques into architecture & conservation practices. As a tutor at the LLF-MMT and CEPT CPP Digital Documentation programs, he has mentored multiple batches of professionals, driving innovation in heritage imaging.
Currently teaching Design and History at CARE School of Architecture, Trichy, he also coordinates Summer/Winter workshops and leads the Digital Imaging Lab for JVM Museum restoration in Mysore. His notable contributions include leading the INTACH Bangalore documentation team for the UNESCO recognition of the ‘Sacred Ensembles of Hoysalas’ in 2022. Maniyarasan’s research explores Chettinadu architecture, cultural festivals, and the evolution of photographic practices in Tamil Nadu, bridging traditional knowledge with modern imaging technologies.
