Join us for a workshop by the People’s Archive of Rural India (PARI) that will explore a people-first approach in reporting with a special focus on gender. Designed for early-career professionals, aspiring journalists, and communications practitioners, the session will guide writers on how to craft compelling stories about the lives and livelihoods of everyday Indians.

Conducted by Vishaka George, Senior Editor at PARI, this session will cover finding overlooked stories, obtaining consent, interviewing, photography tips, and crafting compelling narratives, with hands-on exercises to sharpen skills.

Vishaka George

Vishaka George is a Senior Editor at PARI. She specialises in reporting on livelihoods and environmental issues. Vishaka is also in charge of PARI’s Social Media functions, and she works with PARI Education, an initiative that aims to introduce stories on socio-economic inequalities, rural art, and culture to students in classrooms across India.

Additionally, she is the author of two books for young adults inspired by her reporting experiences in rural areas. Her first book, The House of Uncommons, is about a young boy named Krishnan and his friends and their experience of living with one of the world’s most dreaded viruses. The second book, Ammini Against the Storm, tells the story of a young girl who witnesses how climate change affects some lives more severely than others. In short, she loves converting crucial information into compelling content.
