Join Bengaluru’s book club for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. Experience literature in a welcoming space designed for meaningful connection and expression, through Indian Sign Language (ISL).

This edition features Nikhil Sampath’s book, Shadowbound. The story follows Kadhir, a reserved college student who prefers to stay unnoticed, until mysterious events linked to shadows and forgotten folklore pull him into a hidden world of power and danger. While Sampath’s novel takes Indian mythology into a modern superhero narrative, MAP’s next permanent exhibition Beneath the Turning Sky looks at how humans across time have used storytelling and art to understand their place in the universe. Both touch on the theme of finding one’s place in a larger cosmic order.

The discussion will be followed by a walkthrough of the exhibition Beneath the Turning Sky in Indian Sign Language.

Deaf Bookwave

Deaf Bookwave is a book club created by Deaf people, for Deaf people. It is a space where the Deaf community can come together to read, discuss, and express emotions, thoughts, and experiences through books and sign language. Deaf Bookwave believes that Deaf people deserve access to stories, literature, and emotional expression in their own language and culture.

The book club encourages Deaf readers to explore different genres, share personal reflections, and connect with others in a fully Deaf-friendly environment. Deaf Bookwave hosts regular book discussions, emotional sharing circles, creative sessions, and more. Every Deaf voice matters, and every story brings us closer together. At Deaf Bookwave, we celebrate Deaf identity, Deaf expression, and the power of storytelling.
