21 January, 2020 - 21 January, 2020
MAP Education Centre, Bangalore
Age Group: 10 – 14 years
Session Duration: 2.5 hours
Participating Institution: GHPS Virabhadra Nagara
Imaging Identities brings together a selection of artworks from the museum collection – across time periods and mediums – to explore the concept of identity, its diverse expressions, and the various processes that shape it. It prompts participants to engage in deep-looking and questioning, exploring how meaning is made and communicated in artworks. This in turn, provokes participants curiosity and imaginative thinking in both the arts and beyond.
Entailing a walk-through of the exhibition and including a series of hands-on activities, the workshops also attempt to encourage critical-thinking and communication skills. Through games and conversations, students reflect on what constitutes identity, as well attempt to articulate their own ideas about themselves. The workshop concludes with participants producing a self-portrait, inspired by their reflections and the works on display.
