SUMMARY:Where have all the sparrows gone?
DESCRIPTION:Image Credit: Manasi Mudvikar\n\nA public engagement workshop i
nspired by the book “My Neighbour is a Pest” curated by Timbuktoo Youn
g Writers. The workshop invites intergenerational participants to recall\,
share and document the urban biodiversity of the neighbourhood and how li
fe once changed with seasons\, as compared to the present. \n\nGiven the r
avages of time and climate change\, we no longer recall houses and neighbo
urhoods by their flora\, fauna and fruit. Addresses once were associated w
ith bougainvilleas and mango or jackfruit trees. The seasons would influen
ce the vegetables we ate and the ritual of changing clothing. Nature’s p
roduce would ripen to suit the body’s seasonal demands. The workshop wil
l document these stories in flux via illustration and sensory-based storyt
elling—mixing memory\, ritual and the lyricism of seasonal change.
