 ng marking the launch of Hervé Perdriolle’s new book — the first publ
 ication devoted entirely to the artwork of artist  Jivya Soma Mashe (1934
 –2018).\n\nA seminal figure of the Warli community in Maharashtra\, Mash
 e transformed a ritual painting tradition into a powerful contemporary vis
 ual language. As Perdriolle suggests\, he belongs to a lineage of artists 
 — or “authors\,” in Jean Dubuffet’s sense — whose works expand h
 ow we understand culture itself\, revealing its depth\, plurality\, and im
 agination.\n\nDuring the event\, curator and art critic Perdriolle\, will 
 introduce the publication and speak about Mashe’s practice\, with a spec
 ial focus on a work currently on view in MAP’s exhibition Beneath the Tu
 rning Sky. \n\nThe evening will conclude with a book signing and an oppor
 tunity to meet the author.\n\n
