DESCRIPTION:A trio of jazz musicians featuring Radha Thomas with Ramjee Cha
 ndran and Akshada Krishnan will reinterpret jazz standards\, improvising f
 reely in the genre known as Bebop. Some of the tunes will feature ‘vocal
 ese’\, which is the way in which a jazz singer adds lyrics to a horn pla
 yer’s solo. In this case\, Thomas has written lyrics to the solos of the
  trumpet player Chet Baker. In others\, she will ‘scat’ which is a nec
 essary part of a jazz vocalist’s arsenal\, that uses nonsensical syllabl
 es in improvising to the music — not dissimilar to a Dhrupad singer’s 
 improv.\n\nThis event has been conceptualised as part of the programming a
 round artist Jim Lambie’s immersive\, site-specific floor installation\,
  Zobop.
