SUMMARY:Putting It On Paper: Contemporary Printmaking Practices in India
DESCRIPTION:Inbox\, V.G Venugopal\, 2006\, Woodcut print on paper\, MAC.001
79-10\n\nJoin us for a panel discussion exploring contemporary printmaking
in India and its many facets!\n\nPrintmaking has traditionally involved t
ransferring images from a matrix (template) onto another surface\, usually
paper. Over the years it has evolved from traditional forms like etching\
, woodcut and lithography to more modern methods like screenprinting. But
what value does printmaking hold in the digital age\, and what are the con
texts of learning\, experimentation\, and collaboration that shape its pra
ctice in the contemporary moment?\n\nIn this panel discussion\, artists Ar
chana Hande\, Ayisha Abraham\, Jayasimha Chandrashekar\, Ravi Kashi and Ve
nugopal V. G. explore the dynamic world of contemporary printmaking in Ind
ia\, exploring themes such as knowledge and resource sharing\, systems of
apprenticeship\, and the role of peer networks\, ateliers or community in
shaping and expanding individual artistic practices\, among others.\n\nThi
s event is conceptualised under our latest exhibition Rhyme Unbroken — K
rishna Reddy as Artist and Perpetual Student.
