DESCRIPTION:Join us for a guided walk of the exhibition Paper Gardens: Art\
 , Botany\, and Empire in Kannada by Rajesh K from the MAP Team.\n\nBetween
  the 17th and 20th centuries\, the Indian subcontinent was the site of ext
 ensive botanical surveys under colonial rule. Plant collection and classif
 ication were closely tied to imperial economic\, medical\, and political i
 nterests\, and botanical illustration played a central role in this projec
 t. Bringing together a new and historically significant collection of bota
 nical art from this period\, the exhibition draws on recent scholarship to
  recover the often uncredited identities and histories of the Indian artis
 ts who made them.\n\n‘Paper Gardens’ marks the continuation of a susta
 ined\, years-long collaboration between MAP and Impart — an online platf
 orm fostering greater public engagement with the art and cultural historie
 s of South Asia.
