Stencil depicting the deity Vishnu reclining on the serpent Shesha, and by his side, the goddess Lakshmi. A tiny figure of Brahma sits on top of the lotus flower rising from Vishnu’s navel – symbolic of the Hindu creation myth as encountered in some versions of the Bhagavata Purana.

These stencils were used as aids in the creation of the famed wall murals at the mansions of Shekawati in Rajasthan.
