Exploring the nature, role and aesthetics of movement and gestures and its intersections with art.
4 September, 2018 - 4 September, 2018
Age Group: 7 – 11 years
Session Duration: 2.5 hours
Participating Institution: Siri Higher Primary School
A Moving Tale: Kinetics & Art brings together a selection of artworks—from different time periods and of varying mediums—exploring the nature, role and aesthetics of movement and gestures in human expression, social interaction and animal life.
Entailing a walkthrough of the exhibition and including a series of hands-on activities, the workshops attempt to encourage lateral thinking by initiating discussion on the need for and significance of movement among humans and animals, the ways in which movement can and is represented in visual art, kinetic art, and the use of movement in self-expression, advertising and other performative practices. The workshop concludes with participants producing a group performative response to artworks in the exhibition, as an integration of moving bodies and the ideas previously explored.
