Puppet representing Ravana, a central character from the famed Hindu epic – the Ramayana.
This puppet is made of buffalo hide with articulated limbs to allow for movement. The character of Ravana is believed to have had ten heads; this puppet only retains six of the traditionally rendered heads.

This form of shadow puppet theatre was traditionally chiefly concentrated in the States of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Orissa. Its characters are usually drawn from the Hindu Epics such as the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.
