Collage depicting Deity Satyanarayan and Jawaharlal Nehru
A national hero, contemporary cityscape and mythological figures are collaged together to make a peculiar composition.
The deity Vishnu in the form of Satyanarayan is shown, along with a devotee couple on one side and sage Narad on the other. Little far on the left is Pandit Jawarharlal Nehru standing, holding a garland in adoration of the deity. The painted background depicts the town of Nathdwara.
Collages combining painted backgrounds with cut‑outs of figures from popular posters were hugely in demand around the 1940s. Nathdwara collages usually used painted backgrounds and cut‑outs from Brij Basi posters.
